Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series since the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.

Toronto won the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
