Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
