The newest Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a new setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant trust and backing.”

Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
