Paceman Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Problems.

'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour at the SCG starts at the end of the week.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of that over, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the Melbourne match following his omission of the third.
