Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Abusive Chants About Coach Wilder

The striker is now a member of the Championship side only seven months after leading derogatory chants aimed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a agreement with the Championship strugglers through the winter. His lengthy time with Leeds was ended by mutual consent in August.

One of the player's final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead offensive songs regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' success festivities in April. Now, the one-cap England player will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift the team he loves away from the bottom places.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker and Wilder

Both men had a past prior to Leeds won promotion to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

Everything seems has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The Wilder chant spread widely this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Spoke with Patrick yesterday and I have no problem whatsoever with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke too and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that is part and parcel of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United last season but the former Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
