Preview the Revamped Legendary Journey: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.

Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start the full month. A highly anticipated demo version will go live on the seventh of January, offering a generous glimpse into the game's opening hours. Notably, all advancement achieved within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent debut.

Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Overhaul

This project is a from-scratch reimagining of the seminal 2000 JRPG, originally known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct departure from other series re-releases, such as the previously released HD-2D iterations, this reimagining adopts a charming 3D art style. Environments appear to resemble detailed dioramas, with party members having a whimsical stylized appearance.

"Taking into account the previous port, the story was still quite lengthy. So we came to a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] craft an adventure for modern players."

Significant Gameplay Enhancements and Modernizations

The development team has added numerous changes to refresh the original experience. These include:

  • Quick Field Battles: Taking a cue from contemporary role-playing games, low-level enemies are now dispatched directly on the overworld map without entering a separate turn-based combat screen.
  • Adjustable Combat Pace: Players can accelerate combat animations to quickly get past easier fights.
  • Expanded Vocation System: A brand new character role was created for this reimagining. Furthermore, party members gain the capacity to take on a secondary vocation, greatly enhancing customization possibilities.

These refinements seek to mitigate one of the original title's most noted points of feedback: its daunting playtime. The initial main quest was known to require over 100 hours to see through. This reimagined version was specifically designed to refine pacing and reduce any repetition.
