Tottenham Boss Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Supporters'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed keeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight at home loss of the year.

But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away possession far outside his area.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

One of those booing episodes really irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Alright jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second period showing.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally preventable".

"I do understand the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part the keeper is performing. He's a excellent team player, he's a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

He stated after the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"That goal was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and calmness to reverse results. This match is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was not an simple goal for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for ages," he remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was all about attempting to achieve the right contact and place it on target. I felt a good sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager

While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a joint club record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the season.

Only one of those victories have come after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
